Stuff That Is In My Head

You just might want to go and get a cup of coffee or tea, which ever is your preference because this is liable to be a long one!

It is the end of August, not yet September and as well as I can remember we are certainly having September weather IN August. And it has been this way the entire month. Now its not just me that feels this as I think the spiders do as well. They usually start webbing all over the place in September and I have been knocking them down the whole month of August.

Here is how it goes, I get up at daylight and start knocking down what they spent all night building. Now I do hope some animal rights group doesn't come down on me! But what is a girl to do? And then the spider sleeps all day and wakes up to start building again because that crazy cleaning lady has been at it all day long! Do you think the time frame of cycles have been off this year?

And another thing, I was wondering if any of you had noticed that even though the gardens have not produced this year and provided the bounty which would keep me busy with canning and preserving as I would usually be. I still seem to be able to have plenty to do! So I got to wondering if this was Gods way of telling me I have other things that need done too! What do you think?

Am I the only one that gets to this time of the year. The time when the nights are getting longer and the sunshine not so strong. And for some reason I want to be outside more, I want to cook out and eat out and even sketch or create outside. It seems to feed my inner self and give me energy. How does it affect you?

Tonight is the full moon. I have noticed my sleep patterns changing in the last few days and it has me wondering and scratching my head.......

Winging It Wednesday

It has been so hot around here! Well the temp is not that bad I guess if it were not for the humidity. I stepped outside this morning and right into the soup pot! At least that is what it felt like! The humidity is holding steady at 98%. Yes, you read that correct and it is not a typo. Its hot out there folks!!

With the weather like it is all we been eating this week is salads and fruit. So not a lot to share on that front.

The few thinss that do need to be done outside are getting tackled early. Like daylight early. And all that is outside moving around are things like this.

It was kind of neat getting to see him because it made me think about how long since I had seen one. I think it had been about 7 years.

I been spending days creating and getting ready for a show in late Sept. Here is a piece I completed yesterday.

Thursday's Tidbits

It was 57* this morning. I love it when things start to cool down. Although I believe this is just a tease from mother nature. I am sure we will have much more hot weather before the cool is here to stay.

Itsy bitsy spider, NOT! None of them are little but there are lots of them this year. I take a broom and clean down the webs and the next morning as the sun rises they are back again. I can almost hear the dialogue as I lay down to rest each night and the spiders come out to start the webs all over!!

I got new nail color this week and thought I might share with you.

 And here is a lovely that just just keeps coming up year after year. I love the colors and how hardy they are. They remind me that no matter how much rain or heat or lack of either that we may have, that God is always in control.

So that is a few tidbit that has been going on around here. What's happening in your neck of the woods?

Mondays Musings and Menus

This was a busy weekend that just seem to fly by. I can't believe that school has already began. Now I don't have children in school anymore but we are directly affected by the school schedule because we live near an elementary and a middle school. They are only a block apart on a country road so we have to plan around the busses or we get stuck in traffic for what seems like ever. 

Now speaking of back to school I did some shopping this weekend and I will share that in another post, so be on the look out.

It has been extremely hot and humid, but we are expecting a cool down for a few days this week. I will be using what is in the garden when I can for dinners. So here is what the menu looks like for the week.

Monday.....chopped salad and sourdough pizza

Tuesday.....salmon patties, kale and fried sweet potatoes

Wednesday.......chopped salad and homemade marinara over whole grain pasta

Thursday.......fry bread tacos with all the toppings

Friday.......chicken, potatoes, carrots, onions, peppers and garlic in foil pouches and corn on the cob fixed on the grill or in the fire pit.

Saturday........flounder sandwiches with oven fries and baked beans.

Sunday....we may go out.
